"Echoes From the Depot"
The Forgotten Story of Oklahoma"

WORK IN PROGRESS: Step into the rich tapestry of Oklahoma's forgotten history with my upcoming nonfiction book, a labor of love that spans over three years of meticulous research. This captivating narrative unfolds in the heart of the Indian Territory, where the Chickasaw and Choctaw tribes crafted a vibrant economic hub in the southeast portion of this rugged landscape.

My newest novel explores the success, community, greed, and betrayal of this once-thriving town against the backdrop of a crucial era in Oklahoma's founding.

Despite its significance, this history has often been overlooked. For instance, delve into the sanctuary of Old Boggy Depot, a haven for Native Americans surviving the Battle of Middle Boggy in 1864 – a chapter scarcely documented in Oklahoma's history.

The novel breathes life into unforgettable characters like Cyrus Harris, a Governor of the Chickasaw Nation, and Choctaw Chief Allen Wright, the visionary behind the term "Oklahoma," meaning "Home of the Red Man." Removing Chief Wright from Oklahoma's history would be akin to erasing Sam Houston from Texas's narrative.

But it's not just about leaders; it's about the unsung heroes, like Willis "Uncle" Wallace, a former slave in Boggy Depot who composed timeless spirituals. This story is a testament to the resilience and creativity of those who lived and worked in the shadows of history.

Join me on exploring a forgotten chapter in the founding of Oklahoma, a tale that predates statehood and deserves to be unearthed.

Don't miss the chance to rediscover the roots of Oklahoma's history – a narrative that has waited too long to be told.

This was my first award-winning contribution. Little did I know in 1987 that I would become an internationally published author.
